Ruby Bundle Symbol not found: _SSLv2_client_method (LoadError)

I was doing attempting to do some updates to openssl using homebrew and I somehow managed to break everything. rbenv not changing ruby version

I installed rbenv according to the github directions. I am running OSX but I have tried this on a Ubuntu 12.04 VM and got the same results.
